Elisha Cuthbert Fan first came about way back in 2003 under the domain http://www.elishcuthbertfan.com; the brainchild of Angie and good friend Bree. Unfortunately, the site didn’t get the chance to open and when a year passed — at which point, the domain expired — and the content that had been uploaded behind-the-scenes was deleted in the process, and so the decision was made to move on.
Fast forward to 2005 and I set about re-building the site; I still loved Elisha and I wanted to show my support for her career, despite not being able to make screencaptures — my laptop & PC at the time didn’t have a DVD drive — unthinkable these days! However, Elisha Cuthbert Fan was subsequently launched on February 4, 2005 under the domain http://www.elishacuthbertfan.us since the .com version was no longer available.
The site remained online until February 2006; the domain that is. Due to new laws requiring personal details to be made publicly available for people that had purchased a .us domain outside the States, I decided to switch to http://www.elishacuthbertfan.net — the domain has remained the same ever since.
While the site hit a bit of a rough patch between 2006 and 2007 — I was losing interest in maintaining fansites in general — and around this time, the lovely Bree (due to being busy with Delicate and Uni) quietly left ECF, but has since remained a steadfast fan of Elisha and follows her career whenever she can. We then found our stride in 2007 when the lovely Sarah agreed to take over the site and later stay on as a co-web.
During this time, I realised how popular the site truly was — the ‘online stats’ counter frequently counted 11 people online at a time — daily! Unfortunately, due to a lack of Elisha news & images, I made the decision to give the site up in early 2008. This meant that all the content was deleted, but the gallery remained online.
However, around Spring 2008, the new owners gave Elisha Cuthbert Fan back up for adoption and so I asked my lovely host if I could take the site back — it turns out that there must be something about Elisha, as I’ve tried several times now to move away from running a fansite, but I guess she’s somewhat of a guilty pleasure!
Elisha Cuthbert Fan was subsequently re-launched on June 18, 2008 with a new look and brand new content; powered by the nifty Wordpress. And finally, thank you — the visitors & fans — for wanting to keep coming back, despite the history of infrequent updates and changes. This time, myself, and the site, is here to stay.
